Hi

I have just received my self assesment bill for 07/08. I went bankrupt in 20th October 2008 and I gave the OR a copy of my accounts for this period. I was told that any any tax owed prior to my bankruptcy would be included, so what should I do with this tax bill?

Hi DR

Copy it for your records and then send to your OR to deal with.

Its out of your hands now.

Thanks for your LOL

This tax bill only covers up to April 08, so will the same apply to any tax owed up to my bankruptcy date October 20th 2008. then what happens to any tax owed after 20th October 2008 and who is it payable to the inland revenue or the OR. Do i still fill in my self assesment and send it to the Tax office next year. I am still a little confused as to what happens with my tax situation in bankruptcy.

Thank Jo

It is also persistanly raining here. Got to go out and work in a minute and entertain some children, I suppose that will cheer me up.

I am sure Paul will come back with some answers on my tax situation. It's just that I feel a bit guilty sometimes bombarding him with so many questions. Maybe I should take one step at a time and not be so impatient.

Hi

just put the Christmas tree up so am allowed back online!

Youe tax for 2007/2008 plus tax for 2008/2009 until your petition is included in the bankruptcy.

The official receiver may collect directly any tax due from Oct 09 to March 09 as part of their IPA which includes collection of tax to the balance of the financial year.
