Person ‘A’, living in a property owned by person ‘B’, gives that property’s address as his residence in a declaration of bankruptcy. Is ‘A’s bankruptcy “attached” to the property and if so, would this have any effect whatsoever on ‘B’s credit rating, obtaining a mortgage, obtaining credit cards etc. either during the period of bankruptcy or during the 6 years after discharge of the bankruptcy.

Hi ca65 and welcome

In a word NO as its the person going BR and not the property.

They can of course dissasociate themselves from you via the credit report files and that way any link can be removed.

Person A's bankruptcy will be listed in the London Gazette (if it is England and Wales) newspaper and on the Onsolvency Service website for a time. It might also appear in a local newspaper.

Credit reference agencies are only supposed to show details for the name being searched at the address, not other occupants.
