Hi
firstly you will need to review all the solutions to debt and see how each apply to your situation.
The solutions are:-
Debt management
Individual Voluntary Arrangement
Refinancing ( consolidation)
Bankruptcy
or a lump sum negotiated settlement.
The solution will really depend upon your individual situation, are you working and do you have disposable income each month.
If Br is the right solution for you then you need to do either
1. fly back to the UK and submit your Br petition yourself ( possibly at the High Court depending upon how long you have been away)
2. Hire a company who can act on your behalf at court. They will need to complete a Lasting Power of Attorney, have it authorised by the Office of the Public Guardian ( £150) and then they can represent you in the court proceedings and with the Official Receiver.
Typically these services start at around £700 plus court and LPA fees.
