Hi

I was just wandering how people are getting on with their IPA payments, for instance do you find you still have enough disposable income for the odd trip to the cinema/meal out or for a holiday away.

I am making the plunge on the 23rd February and this is the one thing that I always get concerned about.

We dont lead lavish lifestyles but I do believe that you only get one life and have to make the most of it.

Any advice would be greatly received.

Hey mab

Not long to go till you new 'cash' life begins

Although i dont have an IPO/A i do know that people from the forum may go out every so often or treat themselves by using some money from another part of their budget or out of their part of the disposable income left.

Have you worked your IPO/A out yet as i know skippy has a guide as to how much you will pay into one each month, on her blog. It may be worth having a quick look.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing

Hi

as long as you have made sure that all expenditure that can be claimed has been claimed, and you live to, or within, those means, then the odd social event should not be a problem.

In theory the minimum monthly sum you will have at your disposal if an IPA is proposed is £50.

Hi All

Thanks for the feedback, I have Paul from Reviva dealing with all of this for me so I am very confident that all allowances etc will be claimed.

I guess you just have to be a bit more careful with your budget and try not book to many trips to the Carribean for the next 3 years!!!
plus I guess its only around 50% of the disposable income so there will still be some left for us to use.

I'm 20 payments into my IPA, and while I'm not exactly living in luxury I'm comfortable. I've saved for a holiday and I can afford to have a meal out now and then.

Make sure you list everything you actually spend as the OR can only say no!

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Again good advice, is there a link to a web site that shows the allowable expenses for a couple?

Can you include a small amount each month for things like Christmas?, again I know Paul is looking after this all for me but I am having a very slow day at work and got thinking about the future after the 23rd! and what money will be like.

I am looking forward to a fresh start and we both hope to book a small trip away in September this year.
