Just had the first call from the OR (while I was at work...yikes!) and to be honest, she seemed okay and not as harsh sounding as I expected. Maybe I am being lured into a false hope as this was the first telephone talk and maybe she will get a bit more stern when we have the 'big' talk about how I got into this mess. She did mention that I may not be able to keep the car, however if this was the case, someone could buy it for me for a nominal amount and I could still use it. I would then only pay for the monthly car expenses, such as tax, insurance, etc, which I have already accounted for on my SOA. My flatmate also has their wages paid into my account, although its not a joint account, as this makes it easier for us to pay bills and rent. She had no problem with this arrangement, which I thought might be a problem and could have been a real headache... so thats great news. I must admit that past week has been one that I really wouldn't want to repeat in respect of stress levels (I even had to do my first public presentation at work which I was terrified of doing, but I decided I had to do and try to conquer my fear). I did it and apparently it was really succesful. In some ways after everything I've been through in the past week with one thing and another, I feel quite proud of the fact that I've come out the other end, wiser and more confident, whereas a few months ago I didn't know where to turn of what to do for the best. This has been a real learning curve for me and although I not at all proud of the fact that I got into this position in the first place, I am proud of the fact that I have dealt with it and done it on my own mostly and I think this has made me a stronger more confident person at the end of it all.
Anyway, I'm blabbering on now, so I will stop. Just wanted to let you all know how it's all going, one week after my bankruptcy.

Glad to see that things are working out well for you and you are coping with everything life is presently throwing at you - i have a fuuny feeling that once all this has been sorted you are going to be a changed person and you will be a far more confident 'stronger' individual and the whole thing will have had a real positive effect on you.
Good on you, from the posts you are now writing you are coming across as someone so much more 'in control' than when we first spoke at length at the end of last year, you should be pruod of yourself and the journey that you have been on and how you have coped, keep it up, Melanie

Thanks Melanie and John for your kind words and not forgetting the copious amounts of advice you have both provided me with over the past few months. The decision making and the actual process of declaring my bankruptcy would have been so much harder had I not had the support and information everyone has provided me with on this site, then I'm sure I would still me sitting on the fence, worrying and not knowing what to do.

I hope that joint bank account is not one that the bank will close on hearing of your bankruptcy.
Fingers crossed it will al go well for you. |
