my ex partner was made bankrupt and went to see the official receiver on tues of last week. we had a joint bank account that the bank did not remove his name from in time for the bnakruptcy. the only money being paid into this account was my child benefit and maintenance payments from my step childs mother and my working tax credit. The bank account has been stopped. contacting the offical receiver she admits that the money should be released but I am unable to get this sorted out - could you advise me if there is a way to ge this sorted outs?

The examiner will be able to arrange with the bank to have the account 'unfrozen' and the monies released to you. If the bank are unable or unwilling to remove your partners name on the account, open up a new one and transfer your child benefit etc to the new account. Give the examiner a ring tomorrow morning and request her assistance, it is only a phonecall to the bank so should not cause much difficulty
