| Hi, I have received a letter from Lloyds today saying that "I asked them to make a number of payments on 14th March ....." As these payments go over my agreed overdraft limit they are going to charge £15 plus £15 per day for a maximum of 10 days per monthly billing period. When I stopped using this account I cancelled all my direct debits so can not for my life think what payments they are talking about? I don't want to contact them and unfortunately cannot remember my log on number to view my account on line, I keyed in forgot user name but the message said they will send it me within 3 working days. I did write to them last month saying i was experiencing difficulty etc. but do not want telephone contact with them. Shall I just let them carry on and add the £15 per day as they are one of my major creditors in my impending BR? |

Hi
if you have carried out due diligence and informed them of the cancellations thenthe responsibility is theirs.
I suspect that you have other debts with Lloyds and the direct debits refer to the automated payments of the Lloyds loans / credit cards.

| Thanks Paul. Yes I did suspect that maybe it is charges for the overdraft itself and that it generated the letter? Or like you say it could be my LTSB credit card trying to take the money. It just worried me that it said "you asked ... number of payments ... on 14th". I think I will put my card in the cashpoint and ask for statement. It does not matter if it gobbles up my card as I dont use the account anymore now anyway. I just wont rest until I know what payments they are? Thanks Paul. Roll on the 7th of April, date of court. |

I recieved an identical letter from Lloyds, in a similar situation. I logged on and checked my account, and the charges were for lloyds loan direct debits that we'd cancelled.

Unfortunately, regardless of whether you write to cancel the DD's on bank issued loans they will still take out the loan payments if the bank account is with the same bank. If you have instructed them to cancel other DD's and they pay them you have a right to be refunded but not with bank issued loans, sadly this is a common problem with banks, they actually put you over the limit, then charge you for it...If you are in the process of filing for bankruptcy i would not be too worried, its the banks loss!
