Got an offer of a 4 year BRU today, 5 years if I don't accept the undertaking. Not very happy as I was a month away from discharge, and its quite a sorry read.

The excerpts of my interview which made it into the document make me look like a bit of an a**e.

Not sure if this is typical or lenient for gambling?

Wife is a bit upset as it just drags it on further, and I am worried about having the gory details up in the hall of shame (especially if I have to apply for a job in the next 4 years....).

Hi indy

The 'gory details' shouldn't be available generally, but the 4 year restriction will show on the insolvency register.

I'm afraid I don't know the details of your circumstances in the lead up to bankruptcy but the document is designed to paint them in the worst possible light in order to get it through, so often your quotes and the wording are used to best effect.

Funny how I thought the interview went quite well, but the secretary of state will just see me as a gambler who couldnt be bothered to pay the debt back.

We had a good chat in the interview how it would work in my favour that I had paid back 20K on a DMP before going BR, and that I only went BR when the creditors stopped freezing interest.....

The quote in the BRU says "and so I decided to go bump instead of paying the momney back over 50 years"

Only worried that people will be able to Google my name (future employers?) and see the details.

That's a real worry as that could be applied to everyone regardless of how the debt occured
