Hi All,
I am posting my experience of BR at RCOJ in London...
Arrived at court at 9:30 and went through scanner, the guy at information desk gave me a map to find my way to the payment office and boy did I need it It is like a maze in there, after what seemed like eternity I found my way and joined the queue - there were about 40 of us altogether I suppose as it's so near to end of tax year. I paid my £507 just after 10am and was directed to the 2nd floor of Thomas Moore building which I actually found easy to find.
After waiting for about 1/2 hour I signed my petition, swore on the bible and was told to return to 1st floor at 2:30pm. Luckily my Husband works not far from there so I was able to meet him for lunch ordered Sausage and Mash but felt so sick and nervous I couldn't eat it I was glas I met him as he gave me some re-assurance and a good cuddle.
I got back to the court about 2pm and waited in a room with all the other people, I had thoughts running through my head thinking I would be refused but at 2:40pm the clerk called my name and said as of 1:17pm on 30/3/2009 you are now officialy BR. Oooh the relief I feel like sleeping for 24 hours I am so tired:
By the way the best bit was a guy that was being made BR said it was like waiting for A Level results and he clapped and congratulated everyone as they were leaving the room with the BR Order - it put the first smile on my face after such a stressful day. I must say it is the best £507 I ever spent. Now the wait for the OR call......
Thanks to everyone on this site I may not have posted much but I am an avid reader and have been for the past 7 months, the advice and support is wonderful
Love, Trish x

Congratulations Trish, I am just starting my journey down the route so I am sure it will be a long, hard slog but hearing that there is light at the end of the tunnel is always reassuring.
Do you have a date set for the OR call? |

Thanks Kallis
Hi Warsteiner I have no date set as yet, told I will get a call by end of week to make an appointment but if I didn't get a call by then to phone them next monday. They must be really busy what with recession and end of tax year.

Hi Trish37,
One quick question - did you have to make an appointment at the RCOJ or is it just a case of turning up on the day?
Congratulations on being declared bankrupt and now you can look forward to a brighter future.
Thanks |

Hi Gettingoutofdebt,
It is just a walk in system, currently £507 bit going up on 6th April to £515. I got call from OR on wednesday and have proper OR call for "20-30mins" on THU 9/4/09 so they seem to deal with things pretty quickly:)
Do you plan on going BR soon?
Trish
Thanks Suzanne also for your message xxx

Hi Trish,
Yes, I have been looking at my options for the last 7-10 days and have spoken to a couple of IPs and it looks like bankruptcy is going to be the best way to resolve my debt issues.
It looks like there is a pretty quick turnaround between being declared BR and the OR interview, which is good.
Let us know how the OR interview goes. |

Thanks for taking the time to do this Trish, I am going to the RCOJ on Monday (18th May). It's now £522 the fee. That's what I was told by the fee's office yesterday.
Have they decided on your IPA yet?
How did the OR interview go?

Hi Mighty Reds,
I had a similar position to you as my OH contribution was £500 they gave me an IPA of £173 and I had no interview so I questioned it and it worked out they included my Child Benefit as income and also my sons Disability Living Allowance (he is Austistic)which is a grey area as they shouldn't count as income. My IPA has now been passed to another dept as I questioned it (i now think I shouldn't have:)) and they will get back to me about it. After I questioned it the OR asked how much my husband earned (£1200) an then asked about contribution I just said that is what he can afford as he has his own bills to pay. I am hoping everything works out ok fingers crossed!!!
Best of luck for monday for you I think I posted about your SOA earlier today so hope that helps x

| It's definitely worth questioning the IPA if you are not happy with it especially as you didn't even have an interview as you are going to need to pay this amount for the next 36 months. |
