Hi,

We are renting a new property and my inlaws lent us the 6 months upfront to pay to the letting agent "due to a bad credit score". We are then repaying the in laws a monthly rate equivalent to the monthly rent. After the 6 months we just go to a rolling month contract with the laetting agent.

could this be seen as a preferantial payment or as it is all linked to the Rent situation is this ok? Considering BR not BR yet.

Ta

Hi

technically it could be argued that you are repaying a debt to your inlaws in preference.

However, the OR will always take a view on every situation.

For instance it could equally be argued that your inlaws are the tenants and you the sub tenants for which a monthly rental payment is due.

On the forms you are asked if you pay rent and if so how much, what it doesn't ask is who to as it presumes you pay the landlord.

I think you'll be fine.
