I started reading this forum last year, then stopped. I stopped for a very good reason I believe, no two BR's are the same and reading someone elses fears just builds your own. That is nothing derogatory about this forum, just how it struck me.
Having been BR before 15 years ago I had some idea - back then it had been frankly a very easy and painless process and I have to say it has been the same this time.
* Employed an IP via this site to fill out all paperwork over the phone. My advice, do this, it is a legitimate expense and removes all the angst.
* Went to my court which is a walk in service - walked in, waited, saw judge (very nice lady) for approx 1 minute, walked out BR. Spoke to OR office on the phone at court and informed them I was moving abroad within the month so needed a quick interview. Telephone interview arranged for 2 weeks later.
* Had interview about 1 1/2 hrs; very decent guy who just wanted some reasonable answers to some reasonable questions, which he got. He rung back the next day to confirm what my wife had an interest in, leaving her one car entirely and half interest in other goods/vehicles - extremely fair. Informed me I will be released in a year maximum but probably sooner if they can get the paperwork done. I told him I wished to deliver the goods to his agent for sale to save on agents costs as my wife did not wish to buy out the interest just wanted her half of the proceeds. I delivered said goods, this greatly reduced costs.
* 1 Month later goods sold and wife has her share in the bank.
* Moved abroad
Everyone is different and every story is different so all I would say is: unless you have been very silly and tried/trying to defraud someone - the court is a breeze and the OR is a human being just doing a job and not looking to rip anyone apart, plus stand up for yourself and don't act like a victim. The law is there to be used and doesn't mean you will rot in hell.
I wish all who read this good fortune.
