Hello,
I wonder if anyone could let me know if they have experienced a similar experience as this please. Yesterday evening I was with a group of friends and we decided to go to a casino. However, I was denied entry even though I have been a member for the past 2 years. They said I had been 'barred nationally' from this casino and I was slightly shocked and even felt a bit like a criminal I must admit. I didn't see the manager to ask him to explain why I had been barred, but all I can assume is that they have either been contacted by the insolvency office and they have decide to bar me from the premises. Is this something the insolvency service does if you have a record of bad debt from gambling or would it just be the policy of this particular casino to bar those members who are bankrupt? I must admit I'm a bit annoyed as I was only intending to go with my friends for a drink and to watch them gamble rather than doing so myself. Surely you can't be prevented from entering a casino even if you have gambling debts just on the premise that you may gamble.
If anyone could shed any light on this, I would be very grateful.

not got the foggiest but suspect that there may be a clause in a casino's gambling licence in relation to bankrupts.

Thanks John. Must admit I'm a bit peeved about it. I would still like to have the option of going to a casino, even if its just with friends to watch them play rather than playing myself. Seems very unfair and they just assume you are going to play rather than just go with friends for a drink. Does this mean all bankrupts are liable to be barred from casino's or maybe its just those with gambling debts? I'm not sure.

xmas baby - please, please don't go in there. i agree it's probably not my place to say this and you may well be just going to watch your friends gamble but it's no good pretending you won't be tempted to play yourself and if you did .... then what?
i've read your posts in the past and one thing is obvious - you've done so well to get this far so stick with it cos you deserve to live debt free - don't risk everything by chasing some unforgiving roulette ball round the casinos (or similar).

Hi Bang up,
I know what you mean and people are probably wondering why I am making such a fuss about this as its gambling, primarily, that has got me into this position in the first place. It's just the thought of being barred from somewhere without prior notification, that kind of annoys me. The fact that I can probably still go into a betting shop without any restrictions, doesn't make much sense, but then I never have, and never intend to, go into a bookies anyway. I may have had a gambling problem in the past and I still would like to go to a casino, if only to watch. But if that's not to be, then I can live with it. Maybe I'll develop and drink and drug problem instead....only kidding.

well it's going okay as it goes. only a couple of months till discharge and then another 2 years of ipa - gone quick so far + no more stress and those stupid phone calls from hsbc etc.
life does look better at the moment.
