Currently i owe in the region of £10,000 on an Overdraft and credit cards. I don't own my own property and currently reside with both my parents. I left the UK to seek employment in NZ which didn't work out and as such i have returned to the UK and have been unable to find employment to date. I am currently on Job Seekers benefit and have no other form of income. I have been receiving calls from the bank etc but can't meet the minimum payments of bills. I'm considering filing for bankruptcy - i have no assets or income other than £64.38 through benefits. Please advise if you feel this is the best course of action. Kind Regards Sarah

Hi,

What would probably be better for you would be the new Debt Relief Orders which came into being last month.

You have less than £15,000 in debts, no home, no assets over £300 and I imagine that your disposable income after you have paid board and other expenses will be less than £50 per month.

It will cost you £90 and will be over in 12 months allowing you to start again with a clean sheet.

Give CAB ring - they know all about it.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time
