Hi everyone,
Has anyone had experience of their credit card creditors calling their workplace and asking to speak to the area manager? I had call recently and maybe I am just being paranoid but I had call last week from a very officious sounding man asking to speak to the Area Manager as he "had a complaint". They did not give their name, nor from what place they were calling from and they did not know my organisation's name? My credit card companies would know my position at work so would know who to ask for in respect of my Line Manager. I gave him my Line Manager's contact number but no-one has since contacted him. Do you think it is one of my creditors trying to put the wind up me? My manager and higher management know of my position and are fully supportive. I did have a call a month or so from MBNA and when I told them that they should not phone me at work and that it was "getting me into trouble", he said "Well, if you are going bankrupt, you won't have a job anyway". To which I responded by hanging up. The call may be totally unrelated but just thought I would see if anyone had experience of similar?

I doubt if this is your creditors as they are only allowed to discuss your account with you once you have gone through the security questions. Do your creditors have your work number? If so the next time they call tell them that the work number is no longer valid.

When I was being chased by creditors they only had my mobile number and when they asked for a landline/work number I told them that I am only contactable on the mobile and they were ok with that.

Thank you Gettingoutofdebt, yep, reckon it just me being paranoid but seemed strange that he sounded very similar to the MBNA man from before. I work in the care industry as a manager of a service and the credit companies would know this as you have to detail your employment etc. and I just felt he was putting the wind up me. I really think it was MBNA but I could be wrong. Eek, maybe it is a genuine complaint then??? Still not heard anything though. Still going through all the "bitty" things of BR like sorting my I & E form and sending everything off. Cant wait to finally get my IPA sorted so at least then I know where I am. Don't know if you read my previous post but I googled my mortgaged house which I have "given up" to see if it is up for auction and my entry in the London Gazette was there in its infinite glory!!! Thank you for your advice, you are such a help on this site.
