I am currently looking at BR and have just had my working hours reduced to a 0 hour contract and am now looking at going self employed as a health and safety trainer to try and prevent going on the dole, do you forsee any complications with BR if I do register as self employed

It should be fine as there are a few people on this board who are self employed and have been declared BR.

Hi there shirty and welcome to the forum. There are no problems in working on a self employed basis whilst bankrupt - but something to consider - if you are going to claim benefits, file for bankruptcy whilst in receipt of benefit (as you will need evidence of benefits) and you may qualify for the reduction of the court fee of £150 which is not to be sniffed at!

Contact your local county court for the forms you will need to complete ro enable you to file for bankruptcy and when you receive the pack it will provide information on reductions due to benefit entitlement

Hope this helps
