                      | Hi there
question regarding my rent as it is not straight forward.

Our rent recently went up to £470, however, this is not on our original tenancy agreement which appears at £370.

What should we do? Should i ask our land lady for an up to date tenancy agreement as dont want the OR thinking we are lying about how much we are paying!

Our land lady is fully aware that i am bankrupt and has no issues with this.

 Thanks again

 Jen

                      | Hi jen
I would ask your landlady for a letter confirming that youf rent has gone up since the original tenancy agreement was signed, and what the current rental amount is, and this should be sufficient.

                      | hi
 thanks for this

Should she write about each time the rent has changed, or just the most recent?

It only went up last month again last month.

                      | She can just say what it currently is.

                      | Hi Jelojo,
Sorry to interrupt, but I thought that if you signed an annual agreement with the landlord, they are obliged to keep to the rent agreed for the duration of that period (usually 1 year). I would have an issue with a landlord who makes any changes to this within the agreed tenancy period which had been signed and agreed upon.

Tenancy agreements should be renewed annually on the date of first occupancy. I am lucky, although hardly suprised in the current economic climate, my landlord recently renewed my annual lease and the rent remained the same as last years. I don't think Landlords are in a position at the moment to increase rents, especially as the rental market is saturated and renters can pick and choose rather than it being a landlords market. I would be inclined to ask your landlady as to why she is increasing your rent.
