Calling all people with OR interview experience!

Are there anyone out there that ever had a DMP for a few years and then went BR. If so , my question is:

1.Did the OR give you much/any credit for the DMP..ie trying?
2.How many years into the past does an OR really care about? Do they ask about 6-8 years ago?
3.What is a DI?

sooo many questions...brain hurting!!!

Hello

I've been BR'd before and the OR interview went very well. There were no searching questions as my circumstances were simple enough: out of work, broke and separated.

The quality of the interview will depend how much you prepare your paperwork; there are no favours for good paperwork, that's what you should be providing anyway.

How far back the OR goes depends on your assets. Particularly if you have been selling houses, land or businesses. Not all asset sales provide money up front, particularly if you have been left property and the sale can't be reaslised for awhile because of will/estate trustee arrangements.

If the OR can see you will have money coming in the future, they will want to know when that money will arrive.

Genertally speaking I'd be surprised if you even see the OR; some interviews are being done over the phone. The system is swamped with people going bust and there are not enough staff to deal with it.

Good luck.

Hi,

1. Wasn't in a DMP/IVA but the OR asked me what, if anything, I had done to try to get out of my situation.

2. They went back to the point that I had accumulated the debt. When I had taken out the credit, who from, how much for, the purpose, etc.

3. DI = Disposable Income. This is the amount of money you need to live on each month and includes things like rent, utility bills, food, clothing, mobile/landline bill, etc. After the OR takes your income away from your DI if the amount left is greater than £99 you will pay an IPA (Income Payment Agreement). The IPA lasts for 36 months and once the OR has taken their fees they distribute the rest among you creditors.

I came straight out of iva to BR and it made OR interview much quicker, as they said they didn't have to ask any questions about ammount of debts I owed as it was all done, interview only lasted 20mins.

Hi everyone and BIG thank you to you all for replying!! I am so glad that have this forum to help me...I really am the biggest worrier in the world and a biiig scare-d-cat!!!

Aperantly my case is straight forward...after speaking to COUNTLESS experts and explaining my entire life story..

Case=Rent-no mortgage(altough was on a mortgage briefly over 9 years ago but have been explained my contribution is insignificant..to say the least!), no assets but done DMP nearly 5 years....car was paid for by partner altough registered in my name. Only worth £1200-£1500 and I def need it for work etc. Relatively low income and after expenses left with £34...so I I would hope for no IPA.

You know whats its like though...you think and think about this..and then I get convinced that the OR that will deal with me will be THE ONLY OR in the entire UK that is of the stricktest of sorts and is going to take whatever life I have left!?
I am worried that rather than look at all BR forms + DMP/Bank statements etc and see the simple facts that everyone that I have dealt with say, Ill get an OR that will check EVERY single thing about my case....I cant remember what I told creditors 7-8 years ago to get a loan or credit card?? I have thrown away salary slips from those years ago too......and yes I too had a couple of holidays thanks to credit...

And still no one on the forum seems to have had much dealing with East Sussex OR's.....so THAT worried me...lots!!

Noooooooooooooooooooo

I was the same - I was convinced that I would have the worst OR in the history of the world and she was actually ok! I wouldn't call her friendly, but she was professional and I felt comfortable with her.

Sorry I don't know anything about East Sussex - is that Brighton? If so they are known for closing all bank accounts, even a basic Cashminder, so bear that in mind. Apparently the Co-op will allow you to open another one.

Good luck, it won't be as bad as you think x

Hei Skippy13

Your reply is SOOO apretiated!!
East Sussex covers Brighton,Eastbourne,Hastings,Polegate,Hailsham etc.So if there's anyone out there with experience from ANY of these=LET ME KNOW!!
My plan is to empty my bank just before BR and AFTER BR opening the Coop account. That should be ok.
Allot of the comments on this forum states that OR's are extreemely busy these days so I am perhaps hoping this will be the same for East Sussex.
I promise though, when the day ever dawns and I can pay for the discharge certificate...it will be the best £60 I ever spent!! I also have this vision of sewing it into my clothing for safety and reassurance...hahaha

You're welcome! I didn't pay for the discharge certificate - I'm far too mean for that! I printed the discharge details from the insolvency register and that has been enough so far - apart from Sainsburys bank who wanted the real thing to open a savings account x

Hi theguvnor

HOOORAAAHHHH!
There IS someone out there dealing with this in East Sussex....
thank GOD!!
I am not religious either, but I too find myself asking for whatever mightier help there may be at the moment.
I am due to declare BR soon, within July or August.
I would be SUPER grateful for ANY updates small or large during your experience and of course I will do the same.
I wish your BR procedure goes well and give you too that new-fresh-start in life.
I havent even been to court yet, but I find myself nauseaus at least once a day when I think about all this.
Hopefully, my friend, since our region is v.v.v busy there may be a glimmer of forgiveness and it to be soon over!!!

Did you open a new Coop account after declaring BR..?
Just wondering where in the world I should get my salary paid into...since Brighton freezes all accounts etc...

Huge big thank you for excisting!!!!!

ok -

I went br just after my salary was paid into my a/c, after paying my rent and other neccesary bills i withdrew the rest of my money out in cash prior to bankruptcy so if you have a choice do it so you will at least have the cash you need to get by.

The day after i went br i had a call from someone at the or's office who said they had receieved my paperwork and someone would be in contact in the next couple of days. I was then told ALL my accounts would be frozen immediately incl my recently opened nat west Step a/c.

Lukily spoke with co-op two days before br and started the ball rolling (takes about two weeks to open an account and recieve visa card etc) and app it is a visa debit card without overdraft or cheque facility which suits me fine.

So i should get my a/c dets any day soon and then can change my wages to this and should be no prob at all.

As it happens, i recieved a call from the chap dealing with my br this morning - he apologised for the lack of contact as they were busy and he had been sick. He asked if i was off work today which i confirmed and he said 'Fine, then i will call you in 30 mins to discuss everything and explain a few things' ......at this point a mad panic set in and i spent 20mins getting prepared, exactly thirty mins later he called and we began the interview.

The gentleman was very proffesional but did not judge me at all, clearly he had a job to do but he did not make me feel uncomfortable at all and nor did he make me feel like a criminal. He explained everthying as neccesary and told me that i did not have enough di for an ipa and because of this he would allow me to keep my sky tv which app they usually do not.

expalined they would be taking my nil tax money and that if i tried to avoid this then there would be probs - i told him i had no prob at all with paying it to them.

17 mins later it was over and i felt a great deal of relife, i felt no different after the br was granted but it is slowly sinking in that i can now have a future.

anyways, hope this helps and try nt to worry which court are you going to? keep you chin up, you are doing the right thing.

Hi theguvnor

Thank you again for listing your experience-its is of such great help!

By the sounds of it you really can now begin to relax abit more and it also looks like by-gones are by-gones and look forward to your future-how wonderful!!
Very short OR interview indeed and your OR was a humane person which is great. I do feel a little more relaxed.

What sort of questions did the OR ask....if any in that short time...?
What was your OR's name ?? Just in case....

Thnks again heaps

It looks like Canterbury cover a big area - my BR was at Kingston in Surrey and I was passed to the RTLU in Canterbury!
