If she is not eligible for benefits and doesn't have any income then she should speak to the CAB to see if they are aware of any assistance that she may be entitled to.
Been in touch with the courts. There say if my wifes on benefits you will get help.My wife had a breakdown in dec THERE SAYshe can not get any help because she can not get any benefits.BECAUSE SHE HAS NOT PAYED ANYY NI .So your on benefits you will get help but if you have got no money you cant get any help
This may be because she wasn't earning enough money to pay tax/NI. Also it may to back to the days when women were able to pay 1/2 stamp or something similar.
This happened to my mother. She has worked in low paid jobs for most of her life and back in the 70's she used to pay 1/2 stamp (NI) as women were able to do this then.
Every time she went to claim benefits she was told she hadn't paid enough NI so wasn't entitled to JSA. Luckily my father was able to support her and she was able to get another job pretty quickly.
There are some utility companies who will help towards the BR fees. I can't remember what they are offhand, but I am sure that someone will be along to advise.
