Hi, although the bank my close your account they can only keep the money if you owe other debts to the same bank, otherwise they must release it to you if it represents your income (ie not savings). If it is savings the Official Receiver will take the money.

There is no legal restriction on having a bank account whilst bankrupt although understandably some banks may be reluctant to give you one.One of the other posters on this site may be able to make a recomendation.

Not sure about ebay's rules, but as you would be trading the general rule is that you may start trading again immeadiatly after your bankruptcy but you may only use the name you were made bankrupt in. Also any business assets you had at bankruptcy (stock etc) may be seized by the Official receiver

Did you apply for a basic Cashminder account or a normal current account with the Co-op?

You can only apply for the Cashminder in a branch or on the phone, and they won't turn you down for this account because of your credit rating. It's designed for people with a poor credit rating and the only reason I've heard of anyone being refused is because they're not on the electoral register.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Hi you can open a cashminder account with the COOP, its a basic account with no cheque book or overdraft but you do get a debit card.

I opened mine just before out BR hearing and told them on the phone whilst applying to open it that we were intending going BR.

When you fill in the BR application do not put the COOP account on it and just inform the OR when you have your interview that you have opened a COOP cashminder account and they will be fine with that.
