Please can anyone give me advice regarding a creditor. I have come to an arrangement with all my creditors to pay a lower monthly amount for a short period, due to my health reasons, except one. This well-known credit card company refuses to consider anything despite me supplying them with letters from my hospital specialist, financial income & expenditure breakdown etc. The creditor is insisting that I get the Citizens advice or other company such as “Payplan” to contact them.
The thing is that I have been to the CAB & they actually advised me to declare bankruptcy due to my circumstances & not having any assets etc, which I am not happy to do at this time. Even though I had said this to the creditor, the person I spoke to said they will only consider a debt management plan lower monthly payments etc only if the CAB or Payplan get involved. On my last communication I was told, if I dont they will eventually pass this to a debt recovery firm if I don’t contact an external debt organisation.
Also can anybody advise if a creditor can place defaults against me even though they were informed & supplied documents below, at the stage I could not make the payments. I supplied them with a letter explaining that I was suffering financially difficulty, backed up with a specialist’s letter concerning a health (neurological) problem and income & expenditure form & the lower monthly amount that I could afford to pay them. Thank you

Hi,
Firstly, sorry to hear about your health problems and I hope you are better soon.
As regards this creditor, send them regular payments at the lower amount that you can afford, this shows commitment. Secondly, tell them that there is no more money forthcoming at the moment and if they refuse to accept you may have to go bankrupt so they will get next to nothing anyway.
As this is only temporary, you can also say that it would be a waste of time getting a third party involved and that you will be going back to full payments when you are well.
Write to head office to complain that you are not being treated sympathetically and this is only temporary.
They will pass it to a debt recovery firm eventually and may sell it on, depending upon how long you are on lower payments. If they do, you would find the company that buy it will be much more amenable to doing a deal.
The glimmer gets brighter all the time

Hi
I suspect your creditor lives in either Chester or Derby.
You may be better off letting the matter go to an external debt management company who in many cases are more reasonable IF you are offering a debt management plan. Their role after all is to get you on a debt management plan that they can slowly increase over time.
