Is there any reason you wouldn't want to put down the bank account details?

When you are declared BR a notice is put in the London Gazette as well as the Insolvency Register and creditors/banks monitor both of these. The entry in the Gazette asks for creditors/debtors to contact the OR's office so if you were in debt to the bank they would probably contact the OR.

The OR's investigation into your financial background is very thorough and they do not just look at the details you enter on the SOA form. You also sign the form to say that the details you have entered are true so not entering an account that you are aware of could be considered fraud.

My advice is to enter the account details as there is a very good chance that the OR will find out about it anyway.

hi,

I agree with gettingoutofdebt - be honest from day 1 with the OR - you do not want to be his/her enemy - they will assist you to become debt free, but only with your integrity - try to hide something for whatever reason may land you in the soup...

Good luck - I am sure others will post of their experiences if they have failed to disclose and got found out...

Regards, Richard

I know if you accidentally forget something on the SOA you can add it later, but I wouldnt do it on purpose

Is there money in the account, or does it have a history of large unexlained transactions, or are you primarily thinking for somewhere to get paid to/pay bills from (if its the last, co-op do an account you can have whilst BR, and I also got a cash card savings acct from abbey for the surplus I was allowed)

I agree with the others, there is no point lying to the OR. If they have found out that you have deliberately ommitted the bank account they are more likely to go through your affairs with a fine toothed comb to make sure you haven't ommitted anything else. It could also lead to a BRU.

However if you accidentally forget something don't worry about it, just tell the OR at the earliest opportunity.

Be totally honest - much better to be upfront with the OR from the beginning.

I agree with the others, my OR not only checked my 3 credit reports but become an associate to them too, the OR office is still listed as my other address. So honesty is the best policy

Why did they do that Stu? That didn't happen with my credit reports.

definately not the thing to do.

if they suspect you of witholding information the MASSIVE magnifying glass will come out and there will be things that you have forgotten about revealed.

Most folks have probably got an old bank account / savings account that they have had for 20 years and haven't got any details for any more. If you have legitimately forgotten about these then athat is fine.

doing it on purpose is not so good

Hi folks,

Just reading through the threads on here and I have just remembered that I forgot to mention on the SOA that I have a savings account with ING. I haven't accessed this account for over 5 years now and can't even remember my account details. I think there is under £50 in it at most. Should I still tell the OR about it or is it not worth mentioning now?

Thanks
