just found a site where you can search for other people given a BRU with details so you judge if you'll get one and for how long.

http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/databases/ddirector/brobrudatasearchform.htm

When looking at this sort of site - please bear in mind that no two cases are the same not will be looked at in the same way by the Official Receiver. If you are to receive a BRO the Official Receiver will set the time period to reflect your own particular situation/particulars, so this type of site can scare unnecessarily or build false hope!

Hi,

I am still waiting to hear if I end up receiving a BRU, but 6 months since declaring bankruptcy, I have still not heard anything. A quarter of my 45K debt was incurred through gambling. I had never previously gambled, but unfortunately fell into it and spent over 10K in a very short space of time (3 months). Since bankruptcy I have attended counselling sessions and I now look back at how incredibly stupid I was. I wouldn't say I'm 'healed', but I have come to terms with my gambling problem. I don't know whether I will still get one as I understand the OR has at least 9 months to action a BRU. In that case, I have another 3 months to go. It's not the end of the world if I get one I suppose, although I would much prefer not to get one obviously.
