Hi, just wanted to share with the forum my experience of bankruptcy. Was really apprehensive about the whole process after having 18months from hell with a very expensive legal battle, hence the BR. I was declared BR on 18th Sept 09 which was much less harrowing than I expected, the insolvency clerk at court was lovely and took me into a side room for extra privacy and discretion rather than dealing with my private affairs through a glass divide in the full view of all nearby. She eased me through the morning whereby I had a 2 minute chat with a judge who too was not at all judgemental and granted my BR. After a 10 minute chat with OR's office on the phone again with a really pleasant helpful lady I was given the court order and the 'ordeal' was over :-) Today I had my telephone interview with an examiner from the OR's office, a friendly helpful guy who rather than drive down my expenditure figures on my SOA actually increased some of my claims as they were too low!! He disregarded my car which is worth approaching 3k and just made me feel so much better about the future and my prospects of keeping our family home. I can't put into words just how relieved and happy I am that I have taken BR as my escape route from my financial nightmare, how thankful I am to all of the court & OR staff I have dealt with so far, thankyou to all who post on here as u were my early sources of help and advice and just wanted to jot down my experience for anyone out there who wants to take some positivity from my story. Thanks to all.

So glad it all went well for you. I had a very similar experience at the Plymouth Court (not sure where you went). Lovely lady clerk who also took me into a room rather than doing it at the glass window. I have my telephone interview on Tuesday with OR so hoping that goes well. Good luck for the future
