Posted - 24 June 2008 : 15:58:43 Hi Suzanne not spoken to you before but just wanted to pick your brains.. (i n anice way) i was declared bankrupt today and had already opened a basic bank account with Abbey (3 months ago when looking into IVA) however after speaking to them today they informed me they wont allow me to keep my account no matter what the OR says as it is there policy not to allow BR a basic account.
So today my partner (also br today) have applied and been accepted for a co op cash minder account , will ths be allowed and do i have to tell OR about this new account? Ive told the bank im BR already . We really do have to have a bnak acc as Fiance needs a place for his earnings etc
I hope we havent done anything wrong?? Your help will be much appreciated

Posted - 26 June 2008 : 12:38:15 I opened a Cashminder account after I was made BR and I never thought to notify the OR! I told the Co-op when I applied and they were fine.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Posted - 25 June 2008 : 09:10:31 Thank you Melanie You just need to mention to them that you opened an account with Co Op. If they contact the Co Op the account may get temporarily frozen but if you speak to the OR, they can sort that out quite quickly for you. It's not the OR that freezes the accounts, its the bank who look to protect themselves.

The cashminder account will be fine - just let the OR know of your revised plans.
