Posted - 21 July 2011 : 14:48:26 Hi Alison.ay
I can personaly vouch for the co-op cashminder acc as we opened one each for BR purposes. No problems at all opening the acc & didn't even need to provide ID on the day. I have heard of other banks that are also BR friendly so it may be worthwhile investigating tose too. Good Luck.

Posted - 21 July 2011 : 10:31:41 Hi Alison,
The record of bankruptcy will stay on file for 6 years and then you will have a squeaky clean credit file. Saying that your credit rating will probably still not be that great until you start building up your credit file by having some kind of credit and paying it off regularly. I have another 4 years to go :(

Posted - 16 July 2011 : 13:18:03 I thought it was six years from the date your BR was granted - same as an IVA is six years from the date of acceptance.

Posted - 16 July 2011 : 10:23:32 Hi Aliso.ay
Just an aside but the bankruptcy entry will be erased from your credit file six years after your discharge from bankruptcy. All your debts which were included in the bankruptcy should also be erased so I am at a loss to know where the figure of 10 years for you having a bad credit history was found. Six years and that is that.
All the best

Posted - 15 July 2011 : 17:52:06 hi you could also try natwest, they are BR friendly - they offer the step account which is dead basic but you get a visa debit card which is useful! |

Posted - 15 July 2011 : 15:01:56 I agree with Jan, the Cashminder from the Co-op is a great account and as long as you are on the voters role, you should be accepted.

Posted - 15 July 2011 : 14:49:36 Have you tried the Co-op? They are very BR friendly. It will only be a basic account but it does come with a debit card.
Your credit rating is shot for six years from the date of your hearing. You can then start to clear up your record.
