A Bailiff cannot take goods that are not legally yours. If the vehicle was still on HP and the finance company had the right to have the car back if you do not continue to make the payments, then I suspect that the bailiff is not entitled to take it. Having said that if you have continued to make the HP payments and now there is little or no outstanding debt to the HP company, the car is in affect yours and the bailiff will be entitled to keep it.
