I opeed a Coop cashminder account this account will do DD's and SO's and also you have internet access. It has an electron card which i have managed to use in many places to pay for my goods and also if you decide to open one then it has to be on the phone or in the branch. I have had no trouble with my account. Some are being defered but i think that may be down to electoral role etc. Thanks

Posted - 23 September 2008 : 20:20:08 I would recommend the Co-op Cashminder - I've had one for just over a year and the Co-op have been brilliant.
I also had a Think Banking account when I first went BR - it's a good account as it isn't credit checked, but I found it very frustrating that they don't have internet banking and you can't get a balance from a cashpoint. I also found the waiting times to be ridiculous if you had to phone them. The account is a good idea in principal, it's just a shame no thought was put into how it was going to work!
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Posted - 23 September 2008 : 19:39:06 I know some have had bad dealings but think banking offer a debit card, cashback, hole in the wall 450 and paying at restaurants, shops etc ye s they charge you 12.50 per month but you fill in a dd mandate for all bills and the rest is yours, i think it helps you to regulate and give some discipline to spending

Posted - 23 September 2008 : 17:43:59 Co-op cashminder is the account of the moment if they arent a creditor - they will defer your application most probably as a matter of course but then your application will be approved as mine was. HTH x |

Although any account you get post-BR is a "basic" account, you can still have standing orders and direct debits.

Posted - 17 September 2008 : 13:30:47 Hi try Barclays at the branch, they do a cash account, or you should be ok with a Co-op Cashminder account which you can apply for online.
