Posted - 24 September 2008 : 11:46:29 I have a number of debts that have increased over the past 7 years, and as a result of a divorce I have been left with all the debt, plus the Lawyers fees.
I also have maintenance to add to one of my monthly debts.
The total amount of debt is 18,000.
I lived in the UK for 15 years, but since the divorce, I have moved away. I now realize that I am unable to meet the payments required.
I would like to know if I can declare bankruptcy in the UK without living there?

If you look at their profiles you will find a link to their respective websites.

Thanks John.
Where can I find one of these Professionals? Do they have a website?

Posted - 24 September 2008 : 12:11:58 Hi we have seen this particular question on the forum quite often.
The answer is yes but you will need the services of a professional to whom you will have to legally pass a "Lasting Power of Attorney". These people can work with you from where you are, present your petition to the court and deal with the official receiver in your absence. I should also tell you the professional will charge a fee for this service which would most likely need to be paid before they begin to act on your behalf.
