Posted - 17 March 2009 : 18:04:51 hello I have the co-op cashminder account. What i am wondering is when I go BR will the co-op close it and I would have to apply all over for a new one or would they just freeze it when OR contacts them and when given the all clear would they re-open it? Thanks

Posted - 19 March 2009 : 23:36:16 the only reason I am aware that the coop refuse is to do with the electoral register.
hopefully when you get it sorted you can re apply.
in the meantime you may want to consider one of the pay as you go debit cards - like TUXEDO. you can do basic banking and use it as a debit card - may be worth it for a temporary measure

Posted - 19 March 2009 : 22:37:15 I had to push them a bit on the phone. The first person I spoke to said that they couldn't tell me anything, but when I rang and spoke to someone else they were much more helpful and gave me this guidance. I've sent in lots of proof that I exist and that I live where I said that I do etc, and I'm hoping that it will be ok. They seemed to think that that would do the trick. |

Posted - 19 March 2009 : 21:52:41 Hi tired and fedup! How did you find out what the reason was as when my hubby called to ask they said they dont give a reason and that he could only try again in the future

Posted - 18 March 2009 : 17:53:38 I just had the same thing, but it turns out to be some discrepancy in the information on the credit file, to do with the electoral register or something. They thought I didn't exist! I'm in the process of proving that I do, after which it seems as if it will be ok. Nothing to do with credit history, bankruptcy etc. Phew. |

Posted - 18 March 2009 : 10:29:29 I opened a co-op cashminder account prior to going bankrupt and I mentioned my impending bankruptcy to the bank manager and asked him if it would be possible to keep the account open and not 'freeze' it and he said that would not be a problem. I was declared bankrupt 2 weeks ago and I've had no problems accessing money from this account.

Posted - 17 March 2009 : 18:21:21 Providing you're not in the Brighton area you should be ok and once the OR has written to the Co-op you will be able to use the account.
