Posted - 30 May 2009 : 14:53:28 Hi, I was a former resident in the UK but I now live in Australia. Unfortunately when I left England in March, I was unable to pay off my debts which amounted to roughly £10,000. Am I able to declare myself bankrupt in England and will that affect my credit scoring in Australia?

Posted - 31 May 2009 : 00:03:27 You can declare BR in the UK by either:
- Returning to the UK for a day and petitioning in person at the RCOJ in London. You can petition and be declared BR on the same day by completing the SOA and paying the £522 BE fee, - Using a company, such as Revivia UK, who post on this board, to petition for you. This will take a bit of time and they will charge for this service however they are highly regarded on this board.
It shouldn't affect your credit rating in Oz as I doubt the companies there will check your rating with the UK credit check companies.
