I have just received a letter from the OR, informing me that my case has now been transferred to the RTLU; I am subject to an IPA. Upon contacting the OR for clarification, I was advised that now that the file has been transferred, the OR no longer has access to it.

Does this usually mean that the OR has completed all relevant inquiries and that I should just await automatic discharge? I went bankrupt in late March and the OR has never mentioned the possibility of a BRU/BRO.

Thanks, in advance, for any clarification.

Good luck xmas_baby and James in not getting a BRU. If I were you I would be tempted never to contact the OR/RTLU again until you are discharged in case they have another look into your case. Hopefully you will receive ED but if not AD is better than a BRU.

Thanks to all for the clarification. I was also worried about a BRU/BRO so hopefully all is now okay.

That's how I felt - ED would have been nice, but not getting a BRU was more important to me.

I'll keep my fingers crossed you don't get one!

Thanks Skippy.

I will be so relieved if I don't get a BRU. As for ED, it would be asking too much for that aswell. I will be more than grateful just to not receive a BRU.

As far as I'm aware it does mean that the OR has finished their investigations and therefore you are unlikely to get a BRU. It's impossible to say for certain though. You may get ED, although don't bank on it - my case was passed to the RTLU and I didn't.

Hi there,

I too have been notified that my case has been transferred to the RTLU and I declared BK in early March this year. Does this mean the OR has completed their investigation into my bankruptcy? As part of my debts were incurred through gambling (1/4), I was expecting to receive a BRU, although I have been hoping I would be lucky and not receive one. I have fully cooperated with the OR and although I listed 'gambling' on the SOA, when I had the telephone interview with the OR, she didn't seem that concerned with it much to my relief.

Is it likely that I will not now receive a BRU and I just wait for discharge in March 2010?

Thanks

Hi James,

Yes, once the case has been transferred to the RTLU it means that the OR has completed their investigation. It can also be a prelude to receiving an early discharge (ED) however this isn't always the case.

If your IPA is already in place then you shouldn't hear anything from the RTLU unless you are considered for an ED in which case they may send you an EDREV for with another I&E to complete.
