i am married but have the mortgage in my own name and pay the mortgage out of my own bank account. we have no kids between us together but have from previous relationshops. we have been married 18 months.the car is in my name. if my husband's business goes bankrupt can the debtors have rights on my house and my car as i am married to him ?

Hi

It is a little more complicated that that. If the Official receiver believes that you have benefited from your husbands contribution to the household inlieu of a mortgage payment then they may ( only May ) look at him having a beneficial claim.

Did you have the house before you married?
Where did the deposit come from?

worth having a chat with someone to go over it carefully.

What sort of business does your husband run?
