anyone who has looked t my other post "losing job due to BR / car insurance" will know the background.
Basically want to know................ will i not be able to get monthly payment insurance until the BR is gone from my credit file , or will i be to get it once discharged or am i just doomed forever ha ha ha
realistically i am unable to pull £800 from the back of the sofa to pay the full year insurance upfront and i dont believe they accept Scotch mist.
Someone has made mention on other posts that there are companies who will give installments even when undischarged. But halifax wont quote me as have 0 no claims.
Elephant quoted £1700 so thats £900 more than tesco !!!! they wanted something stupid like £250 deposit then huge monthly payments. Cant even afford the deposit.
Are there any reasonable companies out there ????
The sums i have done last night show that i am now £35 a month WORSE OFF for working !!

Zurich say "unable to quote" , Kwik-fit quoted £1600 inc a £210 deposit. I think its so high as the job i started last week are stipulating that i have to be covered for business use in order to be able to use my car during the working day. But as im only working 20 hours a week for them its not financiall viable for me to change to this pilicy. It makes me £35 a month worse off to what i was on income support !
Devestating as i want to be working and have wanted to do this particular job for years. Have just offered my services as a volunteer to the local CAB as a specialist adviser - could lead to something else. Spoke to tax cred thismorning to make sure i had done my sums right and I had, well their calculation made the payments from them a little lower than what i had worked out, as i did not think they would take fuel payments as part of my income (its technically reinbursment for what you pay out of your own pocket) also the essential car used allowance is taken as income aswel. bit of a joke i say |

Try Adrian Flux...they are a broker that specialize in special circumastances, although I am not yet BR, I had other problems (2 large claims, 9 points on my license, no no claims bonus) they found me insurance where many others would not quote, and I pay monthly through their partner company, Premium Credit...who I don't think do credit checks.

Hi
Do not what age you are...
If you are over 50 (sorry if you are very young), but SAGA are excellent and do not do credit checks as well as allowing monthly payments
If you are over 50, visit their websaite
Richard - 7 years over 50 and counting!!

Recently had a terrible experience with SAGA Motor Insurance.
I was insured with them last year and decided to get another quote because I they were a bit expensive.
They sent me a renewal notice but told them I did not want renew with them. Then they sent me another and another renewal notice and told them again I did not want to renew. I confirmed with them on a number of occasions that no money would taken from my account. I looked at my bank statement and noticed that they had taken my insurance premium 3 times over £900. I had not even renewed my insurance with them.
I went mad and it still took them a week to refund back to my account. They did give me £100 compensation, but didn't do much good for my blood pressure.
SAGA'S Customer service and administration is the worst I have ever dealt with.
It's entirely up to you who you insure with but I just thought I would warn you about my experience with SAGA.
I am now insured with Endsleigh.
As I've said before just because you are bankrupt should not make any difference in getting car insurance, especially if you pay for it all upfront. I know this can be difficult for some because of financial circumstances, so paying by instalments would make life a lot it easier. At the end of the day the insurance company as nothing to lose, because if you stop paying your instalments for some reason then they can cancel the policy.

Hi debtrider, that sounds awful.
I can only praise them - I moved this year from being with Aviva for years - was unhappy with them as they quoted me high and SAGA were great and for the house insurances too
Regards, Richard

Well im 27yrs and was hoping to get my insurance sorted asap so think saga are out the picture for now ha ha ha. Thanks though.
The job has now fallen through due to numerous complications. So i am able to leave the car on its current insurance with my brother until may when it expires. hHowever I will still have to get some insurance in my name at that point. Wont be neding the business one that work were wanting me to have though. At least it gives me a little time to save a deposit / some of the payment. Just seems very unfair that you get charged soooooo much more to pay by installments. Tesco £800 ish in one payment (which i wont be able to save in time) vs elephant and others who will give me installments but want £200plus deposit (£1500-1700 in total) disgusting. 02 ca , worth £1250 aprox. May look at getting a smaller car before insurance due if thats possible for me to o , maybe that will reduce the insurance / tax and fuel consumption a little. Its 1.8 petrol mondeo, and i cant park to save my life !! Paul stop laughing if you are reading this !!! ha ha

Hi Lyndsey
I thought you were well under 50... I have daughters older than you and a couple a bit younger!! Ha ha
What is this about parking a Mondeo...? They park themselves don`t they? Sorry, I have a Rover these days - so I should not laugh - it was courtesy of the OR so its very nice!
Sorry that you diod not get the job - do you look in Inside Housing (assuming you are looking for a job in housing still). I am sure you know that even if you do not get the journal they have a website where you can view vacancies.
Maybe we should start an agency!?
Good luck and I hope you find work soon, Richard

ha ha yep im just a wee nipper ha !
Well i did have the new focus whi i could park , but the mondeo is rather large and im vertically challenged which makes the parking situ a bit interesting !!
Well i have registered with several agencies and find them all to be rather rubbish , so maybe we should run one ourselves ! or ........ housing homelessness advice of some sort ha ha.
I need to see if i can get inside housing sent to me , used to get it in the office , did not realise you could get it yourself. I tend to trawl sector1.net , jobs page on a Thursday , charities etc etc. Would love to work for Shelter and ruffle he feathers at the homeless unit ha
