We have our telephone interview with the OR on Wednesday. Apart from having our copies of the SOA, is there anything else we need to have available?

Also, any tips on which questions to ask?

It's been just over two weeks since we went to court and life is peaceful again....hardly any calls (approx 2 per week!!!) and not much post.

The nerves have returned though.....will be glad when the OR bit is over....

Thanks in advance,

Sunshine xxx

Hi Sunshine

firstly do not panic about the OR interview, it is more of a fact finding mission. To confirm that the entries made on your application are correct.

Yes they are trying to establish that you have told the truth and have not forgot to mention the rembrandt but as long as you have told the truth to the best of your knowledge should not be a problem.

Have your SOA in front of you keep the answers short and to the point.

Keep a glass of water near whilst you have the conversation

good luck regards Richard

Hi,

As the other Richard has said, keep your nerve - be honest and stay calm.

The OR staff are generally very understanding - mine had water and tissues available for me!!

Keep the SOA to hand and to not rush when asked questions, give them some thought. Yo may want to take bank statements and creditors details with you (account numbers etc) - but if you do not have them to hand the OR staff will be able to track the details down.

The OR investigators are very experienced people and whilst they are looking after the interests of your creditors, providing you are genuine and do not try to "blag", they will be fine with you, Richard

Well, we were both interviewed by the OR yesterday on the phone. It was ok in the most part....we were asked why we had gone abroad last year when it was obvious we were in financial difficulties...and we said because we had our heads in the sand, and thought everything would sort itself out eventually.

It was very thorough and some things we really couldn't remember...but we were honest and I think it went ok.

We have to get three valuations of our house in writing to send to them...hopefully we will be quite close to negative equity...so will be able to buy back for £1 plus solicitors fees.

We can buy back our life insurance policies for £50 each.

The only thing we weren't allowed on our I&E was daughter's dancing lessons at £14 per month and they reduced our UK domestic break from £50 per month to £30.

The main issue is our car which is on HP....it's in my hubby's name but he has a company car to use now...I was hoping to go back to Uni in Sept(differed my teaching course when the hubby was made redundant as he needed the car)...to continue the course I need to be able to travel to various placements. I explained this but they said because the car is in Hubby's name and not mine they won't include the cost in the I&E but we could keep the amounts for fuel, insurance etc...and pay for the car ourselves from our surplus....but that would literally leave us with no spare cash at all. So we need to have a serious think about whether it's worth it at the moment.

We will have an IPA of approx £473 per month....

Hubby's dropping off the bank statements, books for the business etc at the OR's office next week....and finger's crossed we don't hear from them again!

I think once we have got everything sorted with the house I'll start to feel completely relieved....but to be honest it's just nice to be sat at home not dreading the phone ringing or the postman coming.

Sunshine x

I did my pgce without a car. If you haven't got transport, placements can usually be made nearer to your home or on a good bus route.
