Hello I declared myself bankrupt on the 28/04/2010. I have had a telephone interview with the OR and he has sent me some forms etc to sign and get witnessed and return to him along with some bank and credit card statements which I have done. I have no assets and I am living with parents and I am on Job seekers allowance, could you tell me what will happen now, also when will my creditors be informed of my bankruptcy because they are still ringing me even though I have told them I am bankrupt. Thanks for your help
Hi GEDC when your creditors ring it is ok for you togive them your bankruptcy reference dont bother getting into conversation if they ask you to pay any money ask them if they wish to share a cell with you !
The OR should / will write to the creditors but it takes 4 - 6 weeks.
basically once the OR has concluded his / her investigation just a matter of keeping your head down for a year
The OR normally advises your creditors within 6 weeks however I was told last year, when I declared BR, that this could be more like 12 weeks as they are so busy. I forwarded a copy of my BR certificate to each creditor and there were one or two, which called and I passed the details to them over the phone. In all I think it took about 7 days for the phone calls to stop and 2 months for the letters to stop.
If you don't have any assets and are on job seekers then your case may be very straight forward, which would mean after signing the forms in the OR's pack you may not hear from them again except to mention that your case has been passed to the RTLU or (with a bit of luck) that they are seeking an ED for you.
