What happens with my gas/elec who I owe £1400 too. Will they make me have a pre-payment meter??

I think this is tending to become the normal response by utility companies, unless its in joint names and one of the account holders is not bankrupt, but if you can pay a large enough security deposit I understand some companies will still allow a "normal" meter

if you do not want to go on a prepayment meter (it may be an advantage and help budget but you do over pay for supply)

How about changing supplier and putting it in partners name (if not going BR)
