I thought I saw a service offering to review online bankruptcy forms with telephone support for approx 199 pounds. My case is very minimalistic. No property, nor assets and on benefit. I can't find the web site. I am just looking for a professional to review my papers – so that I can say that to the court. Any clues pls?

At court they ask if you have had professional ADVICE you can do the forms yourself. I did and had no problems. There are people on here who will say to use an assist firm others like myself will say you don't need to. The main thing is that u have had some professional advice about you financial situation and bankruptcy.
Good luck.

TheGuvnor

Many thanks for your reply.
Did you PAY for professional advice?

I have asked many questions on this forum. Seemed to be some Professionals answering.
I have also spoken to a couple of agencies that were recommended by credit card co. when I became behind with payments. Mostly advise not related to my situation.

Your comments appreciated.

There is no need to pay for professional advice. You can speak to the CAB, CCCS or National Debtline for free and they can advise you on your situation.

The court/OR asks whether you have sought professional advice as BR is a final solution for insolvency. With a DMP or IVA if it doesn't work out then you can declare BR but when you declare BR you can't change your mind and decide you want to try a DMP/IVA instead.

Hi flyingpud

As others have said, what the Court wants to know is that you have considered your options, and that bankruptcy is the "right" course for you.

You don't need an expert for that - if you are happy that you have looked at the options available to you, just tell the Court that

Good luck

I didn't pay for advice, just spoke with one of the experts on here after speaking with ccs and going through my finances. Obviously some people need the help and support of an assist service and I'm sure they are invaluable but quite honestly I was advised to do the forms myself and not try to find the extra onto of the br fees.

If you have any questions on the forms there are some very very knowledgable people on here ( alas I am not one of them! )

All I can say is this forum is a real lifeline for many people and it certainly offered me the guidance and support I needed in my darkest hours

I did my own forms too and when I went to Court the Judge was so impressed he asked if I had paid a Company to do them professionally as they were so neat, accurate and covered everything. The trick is to read every section, consider if it applies to you and then put down everything. They are quite straight forward if you read through them methodically.
As for advice I told the OR I had received bucket loads of advice and even told her it was through the forum on this website when she asked and she was happy with that reply.
Hope all goes well. If you have any queries post them on here and there will be many experienced people who can guide you.

Good Luck.

Went Br 20th July 2010...Just the OR to face now then countdown for 1 year...Or interview 30th July.

Hi there, Welcome Flyingpud.
I too sought help and advice on this site and it came pouring in by the bucket load. I was very messed up and this lot helped me through. I asked the questions and managed to fill the papers in myself. I spoke to Michael Peoples from McCambridge Duffy and he emailed and phoned me regular to help me. No fee, and lots of patience. My local Solicitor acted as a witness for my papers and didn't charge me a penny either. You can do it, just have belief in yourself. I just feel that it's such a rip off paying someone when going BR costs so much anyway. Good luck and don't be worried about the judge, mine was lovely and it was just me and her in the room and she couldn't have made me feel any more at ease. Took about 5 mins and that was it stamped and she was on with the next one. Stay strong and keep posting....xx

Regards,

Just one more thing, when I had completed the forms, on the additional notes pages I put down an explanation for some of my expenditure ie Broadband costs, I explained that I had 2 teenagers studying A level and GCSE's and they needed to complete and research their work online and then email to school website etc. Any expenditure other than the normal utilities etc I put down my explanation and when it came to my OR interview she didn't even need to go through the expenditure with me at all.

Hope this helps.

Hi flyingpud,
as others have said you dont need to pay out to fill in the forms especially as you say your case is minimalistic, i filled in my forms myself just take your time doing them, also you can fill them out online a bit at a time and save it and keep coming back to it, thats how i did mine and then printed them off when they were finished, get advice from CAB or CCCS or on this super forum so when you go to court you can tell them you have seeked advice, good luck filling them out flyingpud.
