I am currently on maternity leave from my employer who happens to be a bank and also our major creditor. As we are planning on going BR in September I have just handed in my notice so that when I go BR, I am officially unemployed.

My question is am I likely to 'get in trouble' for resigning from my job just prior to BR? My reasons for resigning are 1)My employer is a bank and I believe that due to the department I work in, they would not be happy with me remaining there when BR; 2)They are also my major creditor and I feel uncomfortable to continue to take a salary when I've lost them so much money through my BR; and 3) It is my wish to remain a full-time mum to my baby son rather than paying extortionate nursery fees to someone else for the privilege.

I have already handed in my notice so no going back now but just interested to know how the OR is likely to react and what I should expect.

Basically you have given perfectly good reasons as to why. The OR may not even ask you about this anyway as they are really just interested in your income and any assets you may have etc. In the your atement of affairs you will need to list your previous job title and when you last worked. Your statement of affairs is important and needs to be completed fully abd accuratley before you go to court. I would also suggest you do seek some advice from a company that has a bankruptcy assist service as they are really useful and can help alot. The main thing here is that you and your family are happy.

“A compassionate person develops an eye for spotting the qualities that make each person special. Even when others are at their lowest ebb, it is possible to help them restore their self-belief by keeping a firm, clear vision of their goodness and specialities. Taking a gently encouraging approach, I must never give up on anyone.”
