Hi All,

Not been here for a while as I was discharged back in April, however, I'm hitting ONE GREAT BIG BRICK WALL and need some advice if you please.

Surprisingly the aforementioned WALL comes in the guise of Banks!!!

I have a COOP cashminder for personal use which is fantastic, however, I now wish to get a small business off the ground and you guessed it...I need a business account - the key factor is that I need to process payments via chip and pin in store - the catch 22 is being BR no one (so far) is willing to give me a basic business bank account and therefore I cant have any merchant facilities!!!

Has anyone else experienced this hurdle and if so is there a sensible little bank out there offering the business equivalent of the COOP cashminder.

So far I've asked Lloyds (NO) Barclays (wont even speak until there is a cert of discharge) Natwest (you need to pass credit scoring - don't think I will!)

Help - I'm getting really p!$$ed off and very discouraged...

A certificate of discharge is not normally provided, but if you need one, you can apply for one from the court at which you were declared bankrupt. The current fee is about £60.

Hi,
Yep I know that if you need a CofD then you have to go and buy one.

This is not the issue, if getting a CofD would ensure me obtaining a business account I'd be queuing for one now.

My issue is that I suspect that even spending £60 of my very limited cash will not give me any better chances of obtaining the account.

But thanks anyway.
