Hi all,
it's 10 months since my bankruptcy. Can you please tell me: What (in terms of the 'mechanics') will happen as my bankruptcy comes to a close; what 'contact' etc., should I expect?
Thanks in advance,
Godfer

Hi godfer - your bankruptcy should be automatically discharged in a couple of months - keep checking the register and when you do show up as discharged, print off a few copies of that in case you need them.
Do you have an IPA?

I do have an IPA, suspended 3 months ago after a drop in disposable income. Will I receive contact/notification from OR/RTLU as my anniversary approaches?

If it's an automatic discharge then you won't receive anything so need to keep an eye on the register so you can print that discharge notice out.
I think, but I could be wrong, that if you have no IPA in place once you are discharged, they cannot impose one afterwards.
I do stand to be corrected though.

Hi Godfer,
As Jan said, check the insolvency register at the 12 months mark and print off a few copies showing your discharge.
You need to inform the OR of any changes in your income and expenditure for 36 months after your first IPA payment.

Thanks for this...shall check the Register on and around the Anniversary date for discharge as advised.
In respect of the IPA, a response offered on this forum (on a question of IPAs and suspensions) indicated that if under suspension at the time of discharge, any IPA would most likely lapse. Interesting time ahead methinks!

| Once you have an IPA started you have to inform the trustee for 36 months even if it is suspended, only if it was officially terminated would you not have to and that doesn't happen very often |
