Dear All
I have a really similar situation and I am hoping someone might be able to help.
I went bankrupt in Jan 2010. Today 25/02/2013, my work are asking me to fill in to take out a company credit card, with my name on it. The small print says i may get credit checked (which i would fail) .
Can anyone confirm if this is a definitive thing or not? My company has excellent credit and score, so i have nothing to worry about from that point of view.

Any help, advice, or pointers, really would be appreciated.

Thanks

D

Hi David,

If you are just a named card holder and the company are responsible for the credit agreement and the payments, then probably not, but the fact that it says you may be credit checked, makes me think that they may. I would ask them outright.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Agree with Viki that you need to check out whether or not you are responsible for the payments. If not, then you will be ok. If you are supposed to take it out in your name then you will fail the credit check.

thanks for the advice so far.
to clarify , i will not be responsible for the payments, the company will be. I will just be a named card holder on the companies account.
I am, obviously, just trying to ensure that i am not credit checked.
thanks
d

If you are a named card holder then you shouldn't be credit checked as far as I am aware. The company will be liable for the payments.

Obviously it is down to your company as to whether they ask for a credit check. Are they aware of your BR? Might be an idea to make an anonymous call to the finance department just to ask if you will be credit checked.

Thanks for the replies.

The company are completely unaware of situation and I really do want to keep it that way. I work in the very small finance team, so the idea of making the anonymous is out.
As my company are unaware, do you think i can just go ahead based on the fact that they will not ask for me to credit checked?

If you are sure that you're not going to be credit checked then go ahead. You're not responsible for the payments so don't worry.

Let us know how you get on with it.
