Hi i was given a ED in june and i have contacted the 3 credit ref agencys with my ED papers asking them if they wud update my credit files, credit call and equifax have updated them but i got a letter from experian yesterday saying they can not update my files as they contacted my OR and was told that the bankruptcy information accurately reflects the public records so they can not change it but will have to leave it as i am stll bankrupt,if i had'nt got a ED i wud have been discharged in sept,is this normal and has it happened to any one else ?

Hi jilly51
I must say I have not experienced this scenario before. I would phone your examiner and get their take on the situation as I would have thought that from the OR office's point of view ED is just what it says and you are no longer bankrupt.

Are you still on the Insolvency Register as undischarged?
Check on line before you contact the examiner and if he were to confirm that despite ED you must stay on the register until September then that wiould explain Experian's stance.

Assisting where I can.

If you want your accounts marked as satisfied or partially satisfied, and all defaults corrected to the date of your BR you will need to contact each creditor individually as they have to notify the credit reference agencies.

It is probably just taking a little time for the Insolvency Service to update the register. Regardless of early discharge, details of the bankruptcy will remain on your credit file for six years from the date of the bankrutpcy order.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com
