Hello Again Everyone,
Please can I have some advice on filling in the SOA form. The queries I have are as follows:-
Firstly, for background, both myself and my husband are going BR together.
On the SOA, the "Cash in Hand" and "Cash in Bank accounts" question I will fill in nearer the time, however, I am presuming that the Cash in Hand will be whatever I have drawn out of the account to make it zero for when it is frozen and therefore the Cash in Bank will be zero?
Also, my husband has a pension from the Home Office which is non-contributory. I presume that we still list it, although we have no idea of its value?
On the list of Creditors, I have two, my husband has more - as we are going BR together do we have to list our own creditors on each of our SOA or list them all on each SOA.
And finally (for now!) on the I&E page do we list the income we have coming in as what it jointly pooled together - if not it is going to be really confusing!
We started this last night, worked on it for an hour and I came away with a terrible headache - we've decided to do it in small chunks as we are looking to go BR early October.
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has replied to my first couple of posts. I have today read the one from "Ashamed" and I have to say that our situations are frighteningly similar.
I know that with everyone's support we will get through this tough time. Thanks again.

Hi JAH,
I cant answer all your questions but I can some.
On the I&E put it all as joint thats what we did so if the mortgage was 500 put 500 on both, we mirrored everything apart from the income bit where I am not working i only get CB, DLA and Tax credits then it asks for others contributions i put OH whole wages and vice versa.
The debts should be listed as yours on yours, OH on OH and any joint debts listed on both.
Hope i have helped a bit.
Take care
Jo

Hi JAH,
You say our situations are simialr, I would like to say it nice to know but I wouldn't wish anyone to be in this situation at all but personally I it is nice to have someone to share experience with and to know I am not alone. I too am looking to go BR in October it is worrying and daunting and I am certain I will get a BRO put on me which I dont mind at all as like Jo said I never want to ever have credit again, my concern was mortgages but maybe I will be better selling up in a couple of years when hopefully I am out of negative equity paying off the mortgage and secured loan and renting in a better area for a few years before starting again on the property ladder, not ideal but hey I got in this mess so need to get out.
Good luck with the forms it is confusing I know, I filled in all the easy bits - will take ages to fill in the creditors bit. |

Hi JAH,
Your assumption regarding cash in hand and cash at the bank is entirely correct.
With regard the pension, you can always call them to get a value. As long as you're over three years from retirement and it's an Inland Revenue apporoved scheme, it will be perfectly safe.
Jo was spot on regarding your creditors. Remember that any joint borrowing will need to be listed on both.
With regard the income, just list your seperate incomes on each SOA. The key here is your partner's "contribution", not what they earn!
Best of luck!
