Dear Forum

Hope you are all well!

I have finally got round to filling in the BR Forms - my BR is drawing ever closer now.

I have a question regarding Section 3 - Assets, which I was hoping to get some help with please:

What value do you put down for your assets? Is it brand new value? Used value? Auction value?

And, if it is used / auction value, how do you find this out? Ebay or something?

Cheers!

Hi

you should firstly disclose what you intend to list an asset. It does ask "assets of high value". And yes we're taliking auction value minus auction costs and collection costs from your home.

Hi John

The only assets I have worth listing are:

A Car - R Reg. 1.4 VW Golf with 112,000 which needs a new suspension system so sure to fail MOT worth no more than £1,000.

Canon EOS 400 Digital Camera - cost £450 new over a year ago.

Dell Laptop - cost about £450 again over a year ago.

Snowboard and boots and bindings - cost about £700 2 / 3 years ago - needed for work.

And that's about it really!

Hi sorry forgot to ask - where is good to get an accurate Auction price, and is it best to put it down as being slightly lower than you think to account for Auction costs / collection etc.?

I am going to be selling the car at Auction in January before going to Canada - I do not expect to get much for it really - and do not want the OR to think I have sold it below it's value...

Cheers again!

Hi

I usually look at the cheapest of it's kind nationally on autotrader then deduct 20%.
Not very scientific I know.

Hi PJM!

Hope you are well and thanks for your reply! Yeah I had put it down as £700 - I have looked on Autotrader and they are going for a lot more than this but it needs quite a bit of work doing on it.

Good luck with your BR tomorrow and sorry to hear about your circumstances.
