I too wanted mine to be kept out of the paper, however you have to have a REALLY good reason by all accounts. I only found my name etc because i was looking for it, but i still not had any comeback from anyone. No-one seems to have seen it.
Onwards and Upwards is the way im going :-0)

Jo's right, they do put your current address, but they also put your previous address if you've moved in the previous 6 (I think) year.

Hey MD
I think you can go for something called a stay of advertisment.
It may be worth looking into that as if your reasons are genuine like your family could be indanger for example then you can apply to the court to do this, you would however need to have proof and a valid reason for the judge to grant this.
Best of luck.

Oh Dave
I think you do need to make the courts aware of this - not sure about timing on telling them, maybe someone else can advise. You must try at least.
Good luck

OMG! Dave thats really bad.
I would say that in a case like that if you have evidence to say you reported it that the judge may well grant you a stay of advertisment.
Good luck

| So you didn't pay them & moved away? Are they listed as creditors cos surely if you owe them money they should be otherwise I can't see a judge condeding to your request. I take it you didn't inform the police at the time? |

Hi
if you informed the police then you would need to bring this to the attention of the Judge.
I can understand that this could determine whether or not you actually go through with the bankruptcy or not. Likewise even after bankruptcy it's unlikely such people would accept the letter of the law and foget the debt.
If I were you I would complete the necessary documentation and have the funds ready for bankruptcy. I would then go to the court to apply for a Stay of Advertisement for the reasons given above (this will cost £30 I think). I would make sure the application for the Stay has been considered and approved by the judge THEN submit your SoA etc.
If the Stay is refused then you will need further legal advice.

How much money do you owe them?
I would think if they haven't caught up with you in all this time then even if your address was published they are unlikey to go looking at bankruptcy notices in the papers but as john says no harm in asking. |
