Afternoon everyone,

I am considering bankruptcy, but I as I work in a profession which is considered part of a Government department, I wondered if anyone has had similar experiences and whether it had a detrimental effect on their employment.

Thanks very much

Keith

Hi Keith!

Hope you are well!

I would recommend you 'anonymously' call up your HR Department and ask them. Also, check your Contract's Terms and Conditions to see if there is any mention of BR in there.

I work for Local Government and I called up my HR - they said there was no problem with BR as long as I didn't work in Finance.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks for your reply dazed.

I do kind of work in Finance, Part of my work deals with ordering and processing invoices, rather than cold hard cash, so I don't really think that could be counted as 'financial' as in Accounts Department or banking. I do have a 'works' credit card which is issued to me by my employer, but although I am the name on the card, my employer is responsible for any payments made on the card.

It's not so much the bankruptcy that is scaring me, but the possibility that I made be sacked because of it, after 22 years service.

Thanks for the advice, dazed and confused. I have just received a reply from our HR department, which seems to sound okay, but I am still not convinced, particularly as I deal with payment and invoicing for the department, although no cash is involved, its just stamping and authorising for payment. I am going to get my union rep involved so he can find out anonymously as I don't really want to speak to HR direct, if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the reply anyway

Keith
