They wont be blacklisted as such as there is no such thing but you can file for a notice of disasociation from the credit file people, Experian, equifax and Call Credit.
As for finding out they should not really, but i would if you can tell them as you never know who may be sad enough to read the local paper and then tell your parents.
Best of luck

I think its best to tell your parents, I dreaded telling mine for weeks, then I just sat down with my mum and told her that I cant cope with all these debts any more, she originally offered me £15k to do a full and final IVA, but she then had some emergency expenses to deal with, and she could see how the depression was getting worse and the telephone calls from the creditors where getting worse too that she was ok with it, infact me Mum and Dad want to come to court with me on Monday, and want to go with me infront of the judge so that I dont feel on my own, they are even paying my fees.

As both myself and Stu have said it may be better to swallow your pride and explain. I know they may not like it but you have started to take control and you need to get all things sorted out.
I never wanted to tell my parents, they found out because i tried to take my life, they asked why and i told them i had no choice but it was the best thing i could have done some of the strain and stress had started to lift when i did.
Best of luck

Totally agree with you Jo, now that ive told my mum and dad, especially my mum being a senior financial and IT consultant, I feel like a big weight has been lifted off me.
They way I approached it was to bring my bankruptcy forms to my mum (I live with my parents) and then explain what was going on, she told my dad and then we had a big talk, one of the best things I have ever done.
