Sorry if this has no real relevance on here but I have nowhere else to turn.
Following a bad business deal and subsequent repossession of our home which left a huge shortfall following the mortage company selling our home for 30% less than it was valued at ‘for a quick sale’ we have made the decision that the only way out of our debt nightmare is to declare ourselves bankrupt.
We go to court on the 12 Feb.
However, I am finding it very difficult to cope this last few days. I am the strong one in the relationship and deal with pretty much everything to prevent my OH having to stress too much and damage his mental health. I just want someone to take the stress away from me for a while. I am at the end of my tether and have no one I can lean on. My family are very judgemental and we aren’t close anyway so they don’t know the extent of our financial problems – what little they do know I make light of.
Even once we have been made bankrupt things will not ease off, as although I have no assets at all my OH has still got a joint mortgage on a house his wife lives in (not divorced yet, despite being separated for 6 years). I will then be left to sort all that out as between them my OH and his wife have done sod all, despite me telling them from day one, 6 years ago to get the house transferred into the wife’s name only.
I am fed up. I am tired and I have no fight left.
Pointless post, sorry for rambling. |

Hi ElleB,
Sorry to hear that you're having such a torrid time of it.
Take it from someone who has been through the process is there is only one way to deal with this and that is one thing at a time. If you try and think about everything that you need to do, it's just too much .... breaking it down and prioritising one thing at a time is the only way to get through it! Take a deep breath and you'll be fine.
