Hello,

I have now decided on petitioning for my bankruptcy in early March. However, I have paid a token payment to my credit card creditors last month of £50 each. Unfortunately I was too late to stop my loan from being taken by direct debit and this was for £400. I plan to make no further payments either to my loan or credit cards in March. Will the OR see this as preferential treatment over one creditor to another, even though the reason I couldn't cancel my loan direct debit is because it was my only bank account at the time. I now have a new account set up with another bank.

Help Please!!

Hi

clearly this was not done with a view to preferring one creditor over another.

The fact is that preference is largely only questioned, and possibly considered a deliberate act which would count against you, if the preferred creditor were a family member or friend.

In any case if the OR wished to do so he could easily sort things between the creditors come the time.

Thanks John, for clarifying that. Good to know it wouldn't be seen as my fault exactly.
