Hi everyone,
Bear with me while i fill you in so far - I went Br in sept 08 and after a horrific interview with the OR who said i would be under investigation. I have not heard anything from him. I wrote to him in October stating my husband had left and that my income had changed but did not get a reply. I also received a nil tax code in November but have never been notified where to send the money that i should have paid in tax.
I wrote last week to the OR again giving these details and I have today received a letter from a different OR stating that i have to complete a income payments order questionaire (requesting income and expenditure)
Am i right in thinking this has nothing to do with early discharge and it is just to clarify whether i will have to pay anything towards bankruptcy?

Hi dg67

was the letter headed EDREV?

If it was then it is indeed an early discharge review.

If not then it may just be that your case has been handed to someone else who feels the need to review your I&E.

Hi John
Thanks for the reply, the letter does not start with EDREV so i think they are just checking I&E as my circumstances changed so I am just completing figures now, do they account for increases in prices such as heating and tv licence and food costs, i checked the figures on Insolvency guide/ household expenditures but it is for 2006/2007.
figures i have are:
Income - £721.47(then deduct £48.00 for tax)
Child benefit £ 78.80
Housing Benefit £ 9.88
C.S.A. £ 31.20
Child/Work Credit£377.27

TOTAL: £1218.62 (£1170.62 less the tax)

Expenditure
Rent £284.92
Council Tax £ 56.87
heating/lighting£121.00
water £ 31.29
telephone £ 40.00
shopping £320.00
travel £ 80.00 (petrol)
clothing £ 80.00
tv licence £ 11.95
car ins £ 35.44
pet ins £ 15.46
house ins £ 16.00
car tax £ 17.00
breakdown £ 7.00
hairdressing £ 10.00
uk small break £ 20.00 trying to save to treat kids
car maintenance £ 10.00

Total: £1156.93

Do these look ok? some months i cant save the holiday money it goes on food, kids, car whatever but everything else is down to the penny.

dh67,

be careful with those extra sums of money in your pay. my wife got the same extra payments and had to keep the money back because sooner or later you will get a letter from a company called moonbeever. they act as collection agents for ipa's.

if your income has increased you may be in danger of a 3 year ipa, as opposed to a nil tax code ipa - which lasts only for the current tax year.

make sure you use up all the claimable essential expenses to try to avoid an ipa. check the insolvency service website and search for ipo on there. there is a household expenditure spreadsheet you can look over.

it bodes well that you have not yet heard anything nasty about a possible bru/bro - which is presumably what the or had in mind at the beginning when he said you might be inverstigated. nevertheless, you cannot count your chickens as there is a long way to go.

Hi dg67

I would up the housekeeping to £400 and the vehicle maintenance to £50.

An IPA is unlikely as you would then have a negative disposable income.

Additionally your CB is not included as income for the purposes of an IPA.

Hi shirley,
Someone will correct this if i'm wrong but after bankruptcy, and you are employed you receive a nil tax code with your wages.
So you get more money in your pay but you are to keep that money (that would have been paid in tax) on one side and a company contacts you and you send it to them instead.
This lasts until the end of the tax year or if you change employment you go back to paying tax.

Hope I got it all correct - im still waiting for someone to contact me i have 4 months money waiting.
